On that Saturday, five cities in the state of São Paulo hosted the book launch of Nothing to Lose 3 - From the Bandstand to The Temple of Solomon: A Faith that Transforms. Campinas, Ribeirão Preto, Santos, São Bernardo do Campo e São Paulo ended the book launch tour. It was one of the largest book sales in one day, demonstrating the editorial success that the life of Bishop Macedo has become.
The book launch in São Paulo of the autobiography of Bishop Edir Macedo, written in partnership with Douglas Tavolaro, Vice President of Journalism at Rede Record, started with thousands of people in line, hours before the start of the autograph session. Not even the hot sun prevented them from forming the already traditional group of dedicated people.
In this third volume, Nothing to Lose 3 presents unpublished stories and life lessons of Bishop Macedo as a father and a husband. In emotional testimonies, he speaks about his marriage to Ester Bezerra, a union that has endured for more than 40 years.
In the capital city of São Paulo, the book launch was held in the bookstore Cultura do Conjunto Nacional, one of the main locations on the Avenue of São Paulo. Attending the event were numerous dignitaries and celebrities, such as presenters, actors and journalists.
Everyone who waited in line was guaranteed their own signed copy of the autobiography.
Among the authorities present was the prefect of Itaquaquecetuba, Mamoru Nakashima (PTN), said to be very happy with the success of this additional book launch and reinforced the role of Bishop Macedo.
He is a person of great prominence in society, principally in Itaquaquecetuba, where he has a big representation.
Luiz Claudio Costa, President of the Rede Record, remarked that the Brazilians have been inspiring themselves with the story of Bishop Macedo.
Brazil is in need of good examples. Brazil is in need of people that the population can look up to. And the success of these sales demonstrates that the good example of Bishop Edir Macedo has been and is being followed by many people.
Presenter Gugu Liberato also complemented the book and said that even more books should come in the future.
His story is so complex, that in brief time of the existence of The Universal Church, which has grown a lot in 38 years, he must have so much more to tell. He should continue to write more books because his life story is so rich.
The book launches always sell out, this is proof that people have been reaching out to know the biography of Bishop Macedo, remarked Bishop Renato Cardoso who is married to Cristiane Cardoso, daughter of Edir.
This shows that people are interested in knowing who this person is who, in a way, changed Brazil’s path at various points. He changed the course of religion in Brazil and he changed the areas of media and communications. I think that he is very underestimated or little recognized in these aspects.
Concerning the changes that Bishop has made across Brazil and the world, Bishop Cardoso also pointed out Bishop Edir Macedo’s humility.
He had the audacity, and most importantly acted without pretense. He didn’t start off saying he was going to change Brazil. His only intention was to help people. And because of this dedication, he changed many things, far more than he ever imagined possible.
